USS ''Bright'' (DE-747) was a built for the United States Navy during World War II. She served in the Pacific Ocean and provided escort service against submarine and air attack for Navy vessels and convoys. Despite being crashed by a kamikaze, she was able to return home safely and proudly after the war with one battle star.〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=Bright )〕 She was named in honor of Graham Paul Bright who was killed on Guam by Japanese machine gun fire during the fighting that followed the Japanese landing on 10 December 1941. The ship was laid down on 9 June 1943 at San Pedro, California, by the Western Pipe and Steel Company; launched on 26 September 1943; sponsored by Mrs. Miriam Engle Bright, Lt.(jg.) Standing out San Diego, California, on 19 September with , ''Bright'' escorted her to Hawaii and then carried out training in the Hawaiian operating area well into November. Assigned to Task Group (TG) 12.3, the destroyer escort took part in a series of six hunter-killer operations out of the Hawaiian and Marshall Islands between 24 November 1944 and 23 April 1945. During those cruises, she conducted depth charge attacks on three sound contacts, but obtained no evidence of success.
